Dog Rescue & Sanctuary Near Hampstead, Maryland
Hampstead sits just up Hanover Pike (MD-30) from our home in Upperco. For Hampstead families, Petey’s Promise is a neighbor: close enough to visit, volunteer with and drop supplies off to.
Hampstead and Petey’s Promise
We don’t run a facility in Hampstead. Our dogs live and train in Upperco, a short drive south. What we offer Hampstead is the same as any neighbor can: a place to turn when a dog has nowhere else to go, and a way for people who care about dogs to help directly.
Many of the things our dogs need most, like rides to appointments and help with daily walks, depend on people who live nearby. Hampstead is close enough that a few hours a month makes a real difference.
Found a lost or stray dog in Hampstead?
Hampstead is in Carroll County. Contact the Humane Society of Carroll County, the county’s animal shelter and animal control provider, so the dog can be scanned for a microchip and matched with a worried owner.
If the dog needs more than a shelter stay can give, contact us. We can’t promise intake, but we will read every message.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Petey’s Promise?
Petey’s Promise is a dog rescue and sanctuary effort growing out of Lyndsey Morgan’s rescue work with Obedient BLUE. It helps homeless, abandoned, medically or behaviorally challenged, senior and sanctuary dogs get food, veterinary care, rehabilitation, training, shelter and long-term support. Read our mission.
Can I surrender a dog?
We can’t promise intake. Space, resources and each dog’s needs determine what we can take on. Please contact us with details about the dog and your situation, or call (443) 377-6919, and we’ll respond as soon as we can.
Can I volunteer?
Volunteer roles are still being organized. Send a volunteer inquiry and we’ll be in touch as opportunities open up. Submitting an inquiry doesn’t guarantee a position.
Can I donate supplies?
Yes. Food, treats, beds, cots, crates, leashes, collars, cleaning supplies, towels, blankets, enrichment items and training equipment are always useful. See Donate Supplies.
