Rescue Dog Rehabilitation Near Hampstead, Maryland
Down Hanover Pike in Upperco, trainer Lyndsey Morgan works with rescue dogs who arrive frightened, shut down or reactive, and helps them learn to trust again.
Rehabilitation, step by step
First comes decompression: quiet, rest and a predictable routine. Then we add structure through consistent handling and simple manners, and introduce people, other dogs and new places gradually, at the dog’s pace.
Lyndsey has trained dogs professionally since 2007 and runs Obedient BLUE in Upperco. Timelines vary. Some dogs are ready for adoption in weeks, others need months, and some belong in sanctuary.
This is rehabilitation for dogs in our program. For help with your own dog, Obedient BLUE offers training services separately.
Helping from Hampstead
Steady volunteers matter most here. Walks, enrichment and simply sitting quietly with a dog who’s learning to trust all count, and from Hampstead it’s a short trip to help regularly.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Petey’s Promise?
Petey’s Promise is a dog rescue and sanctuary effort growing out of Lyndsey Morgan’s rescue work with Obedient BLUE. It helps homeless, abandoned, medically or behaviorally challenged, senior and sanctuary dogs get food, veterinary care, rehabilitation, training, shelter and long-term support. Read our mission.
Why can’t every dog be adopted?
Some dogs have ongoing medical conditions, a bite history, special handling needs or simply need more time. Placing them in a home that can’t meet those needs would put the dog and the family at risk. For these dogs, a stable sanctuary home is the safest, kindest option.
Can I volunteer?
Volunteer roles are still being organized. Send a volunteer inquiry and we’ll be in touch as opportunities open up. Submitting an inquiry doesn’t guarantee a position.
Where does my sponsorship money go?
Sponsorships support Petey’s Promise’s overall rescue and sanctuary work: veterinary care, food, medication, training and rehabilitation, safe housing, transportation, enrichment and emergency treatment. Funds may be used where the need is greatest.
