Rescue Dog Medical Care Near Hampstead, Maryland

Vet bills are the biggest cost of rescue. Support from Hampstead helps pay for the exams, surgeries and medication that dogs in our Upperco program need before they can move forward.

The care every dog gets

Each dog gets an exam, vaccines and parasite treatment on arrival. Diagnostics, surgery and medication follow as needed, and dogs with long-term conditions get a care plan that follows them for life.

Some injuries are severe. Ricky arrived with a gunshot wound through his shoulder after living on the streets of Texas. Whatever the body needs comes first.

This care is for dogs in our program only. Petey’s Promise is not a veterinary clinic and doesn’t treat pets for the public.

Helping from Hampstead

Monthly sponsorship is the most reliable way to cover vet care, because it lets us plan. If you have a flexible schedule, driving a dog to an appointment helps too.

If your own pet needs care, please call your regular veterinarian or the nearest emergency animal hospital.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Petey’s Promise?

Petey’s Promise is a dog rescue and sanctuary effort growing out of Lyndsey Morgan’s rescue work with Obedient BLUE. It helps homeless, abandoned, medically or behaviorally challenged, senior and sanctuary dogs get food, veterinary care, rehabilitation, training, shelter and long-term support. Read our mission.

Can I surrender a dog?

We can’t promise intake. Space, resources and each dog’s needs determine what we can take on. Please contact us with details about the dog and your situation, or call (443) 377-6919, and we’ll respond as soon as we can.

Can I volunteer?

Volunteer roles are still being organized. Send a volunteer inquiry and we’ll be in touch as opportunities open up. Submitting an inquiry doesn’t guarantee a position.

Can I donate supplies?

Yes. Food, treats, beds, cots, crates, leashes, collars, cleaning supplies, towels, blankets, enrichment items and training equipment are always useful. See Donate Supplies.
