Meet Lyndsey Morgan
A dog trainer who has spent her whole life around dogs, and who has spent years quietly taking in the ones who had nowhere else to go.

A life with dogs
Lyndsey says there have always been dogs in her life. At one point her family had five of them at home, and their affection gave her a sense of security. In her words, they were her therapy.
At 16 she took her first kennel job, where she learned the daily work of caring for dogs and how dogs behave in groups. Then came Chance, her family’s rescue hound mix, and her first group obedience class. Training Chance became her high school graduation project in 2001.
Obedient BLUE
In 2007 Lyndsey graduated from Animal Behavior College as a certified dog trainer, and became a first-time dog mom to an English yellow Lab she named Blue. In his honor she started Obedient BLUE, “School for Dogs,” in Upperco, Maryland, where she teaches obedience and behavior work built on making training fun, not fearful.

Blue crossed the rainbow bridge in July 2022. In his honor, Lyndsey has committed to keep training dogs, helping them live their fullest lives, and keeping dogs in homes and out of shelters.
Where training meets rescue
Professional dog experience changes what rescue can look like. Lyndsey can evaluate a dog’s behavior, build a structured routine, and work patiently with dogs that many places would consider too difficult. That’s often the difference between a dog who can eventually be adopted and one who is simply out of options.
Her rescue work has grown alongside the training school: strays, surrendered dogs, injured dogs like Ricky, and dogs who will need a home for life. She personally spends a great deal of time caring for them, and their food, vetting and daily care have largely been paid for out of pocket.

Why Petey’s Promise

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Petey’s Promise?
Petey’s Promise is a dog rescue and sanctuary effort growing out of Lyndsey Morgan’s rescue work with Obedient BLUE. It helps homeless, abandoned, medically or behaviorally challenged, senior and sanctuary dogs get food, veterinary care, rehabilitation, training, shelter and long-term support. Read our mission.
What is a sanctuary dog?
A sanctuary dog stays in permanent or long-term care because traditional adoption would not be safe or appropriate for them, often because of medical needs, age, behavior history, bite history or special handling requirements. Sanctuary is a commitment to give them a good life anyway. Learn about sanctuary care.
Is Petey’s Promise a nonprofit?
Petey’s Promise is in the process of establishing its formal nonprofit structure. We’ll publish organizational details when they’re official. See Organization Status.
Can I volunteer?
Volunteer roles are still being organized. Send a volunteer inquiry and we’ll be in touch as opportunities open up. Submitting an inquiry doesn’t guarantee a position.
