His name is Ricochet. Most people just call him Ricky. Before he had either name, he was a stray dog on the streets of Texas, getting by on his own.
Alone on the streets
Life as a street dog is hard in ordinary times: finding food, staying out of traffic, staying away from people who don’t want you around. Ricky’s situation was worse than ordinary. At some point, someone shot him. The bullet went through his shoulder.
We don’t know exactly when it happened, who did it, or how long he lived with the wound before help arrived. We won’t guess. What we know is enough: he was hurt, he was alone, and he needed someone to notice him.
Our mission is to help dogs like Ricky, who are on the streets or in shelters fighting for their life, get the essentials they need to live a good life.
Someone stepped in
Ricky was rescued and brought into care. The trip from the streets of Texas ended somewhere safe, with people who were there to look after him and help him heal.
Safe today
Look at Ricky now and you see a happy, friendly dog who is full of personality. The dog who once had nowhere safe to sleep now has a cot of his own and people who know his name. He is currently listed as adoptable and waiting for the right family.
Details about Ricky’s rescue date and his recovery will be added here once Lyndsey has approved them.
Help dogs like Ricky
Ricky’s story ended well because someone was able to help. You can make sure the next dog gets the same chance: learn about our rescue program, sponsor Ricky, or sponsor a dog where the need is greatest.
